Decisions — MAD THE BARBER SHOP (lead / spec build)
This is a lead build: no contact with the business yet. Per the website-builder skill's
lead-mode rule, open questions are resolved with a recommended default instead of blocking
on the operator. Each entry below is an override point — flag it to the business if/when
contact is made, and swap the default for their real answer.
Mode
- draft-first: build a full draft site now with visible
[TBD:]placeholders for unconfirmed
facts, ship it as a noindex'd Cloudflare preview, iterate from there. No blocking questions.
- Skipped the separate phase-1-only preview deploy (styleguide alone) in favor of a single deploy
once the full draft site is built — there is no operator mid-build to review a styleguide-only
checkpoint, so the extra deploy cycle would add nothing. /_styleguide/ and /dossier/ are still
preserved as live routes on the final deploy, per the skill's full-pipeline requirement.
Category
- Mapped to
hairdresserspec (closest available; no dedicated "barbershop" category exists in
the suite). Applied with a men's-barbershop lens — see build/category-mapping.md for the
specific deviations (no color/stylist-tier pricing, no team-with-photos requirement, fades/beard
gallery focus, tap-to-call + contact form instead of a booking platform).
Languages
- Default: DE + EN. Zürich is German-speaking; reviews are written in English by an
international/expat clientele (Berlin visitor, English-speaking reviewers), so EN earns its
place as a secondary locale rather than being the only option. FR/IT not added — no signal for
demand in a neighborhood barbershop.
Services & pricing
- No service menu or price list is published anywhere (no existing website, Places API has no
menu data). Draft copy uses a placeholder barbershop menu (Cut, Fade, Beard trim, Cut + Beard,
Kids cut, Eyebrows) explicitly marked [TBD: confirm exact services & prices] in the copy deck.
Never invent specific CHF prices — the one price point in the reviews (CHF 10 eyebrows) is
mentioned but not asserted as current, standing pricing.
Payment methods
- A 2022 review claims cash-only. Too old and single-sourced to publish as a site fact (payment
policies change; this could easily be stale). Omitted from the site rather than risk
misrepresenting the business. Flagged in content/cautions.md.
Booking / primary CTA
- No booking platform found (no website, nothing in the dossier). Primary CTA is tap-to-call +
Google Maps directions, not a fabricated Vagaro/Fresha/Square embed.
Contact form
- Not wired in this draft.
references/contact-forms.mdTier 1 (Web3Forms) requires an access
key tied to "the operator's email" so submissions land with them — there is no confirmed email
for this business (identity.md marks it [TBD:]). Building a form with no real destination for
submissions would be worse than omitting it. Call + directions carry the draft's conversion
path. Add the form once an owner email is confirmed.
Domain & email
- No domain purchased for a lead build — the review/deploy surface is the Cloudflare Pages
.pages.dev URL only. Domain + email tier is a go-live decision for if/when the business
engages (references/domain-email.md).
Photos
- Google Places photos are used as placeholders only (shot-list quality, not licensed
production assets, per content/cautions.md) — flagged clearly in the build so a future
photo pass replaces them before any real launch.
Distinctiveness check
check-distinctiveness.mjs(advisory, warn-threshold 60 RGB units, exits 0) flaggedprimary
and accent against silvia-jayet-reflexologie — the operator's own reflexology site, a
different category. primary (#17181a) is 35 units from their #2a302a; accent was nudged
from #97632c (31 units) to #9c5e1e (46 units) — more saturated/orange, still within the
photographed wood-floor sample range (#a87533, #925b22, #b08650) — improving both the
distance and the contrast on bg (4.6:1 → 4.7:1).
- Did not push further: the next tested step (
#b05e10, ~68 units) dropped contrast onbgto
3.85–4.25:1, failing AA. Getting past 60 units would trade away either AA contrast or fidelity
to the actual sampled wood tone. Both remaining warnings are accepted as coincidental
near-black/warm-brown overlap (a different category, different fixtures) rather than forced
further — the check is advisory precisely for this judgment call.
Team / stylists
- No individual barber names/photos in the dossier. Team page omitted from the sitemap for
this draft rather than inventing staff bios.
